Deep Breaths & Mindfulness

Me on a rock in Mendocino, CA

I know the idea of meditation can be quite scary! The thought of having to sit completely still for a long period of time without doing anything, just doesn’t seem productive… Well - it turns out it really is! Research has proven that it can lower stress - and we all need some of that! Stress causes a lot of problems, ranging from insomnia to digestive issues. Try incorporating some form of stress management into your day and notice the difference.

Doing nothing is doing so much for you!

Here’s how you can start:

  • Commit to five minutes in the morning.
  • Sit on the side of your bed or in a comfortable chair - or if you prefer, cross-legged on a pillow. Most importantly - be comfortable!
  • Keep your eyes closed.
  • Start relaxing your body a little more with each breath. Relax the tongue, jaw and scalp too… we tend to forget!
  • Focus on your breath - in and out.
  • If a thought appears (which trust me it will!) just acknowledge it and send it on its way!
