We should all go back to school…
I love these transitional times. Seasons make things so much more interesting - allowing us to eat different foods, wear different clothes and focus on different activities. It also offers us perspective and an opprtunity to see what’s actually really important to us. What are some things that you’re not ready to leave behind just yet? And what is cluttering up your life and holding you back? And what is lacking in your life? What do you want more of?
I obviously hope fresh vegetables are on that list of what you’re “wanting more of”, but how about creative stimulation and expression, walks in nature, quality time with friends or by yourself? We are all spiritual beings in a very material world and therefor tend to focus on material things. Take a step back and see what else might be meaningful contributions to your happiness. It’s most likely right in front of you.
One of my favorite yoga teachers, Tracy Matthews, always ends her classes with “The Invocation to the Guru” :
” I offer all of my efforts to all of my teachers. The teacher which is…
This life that I was born into
This life that I continue to lead
This life that is all of the challenges and hardships set before me on my path
The teacher that resides within me
The teacher who sits right next to me
And the teacher who is beyond all of this “
So, this fall I encourage you all to actually go “back to school”!
Honor the teachers in your life and learn something new.
